Joules has promoted managing director Colin Porter to chief executive, allowing founder Tom Joule to focus on the brand and creative design.
Porter joined Joules in November 2010 from menswear brand Crombie, where he had been joint managing director for a year. He previously spent 10 years at House of Fraser in roles including commercial director and supply chain and merchandise director.
Joule and the board said Porter’s appointment is a reflection of how its leadership roles have evolved over the last year, which has been the most commercially successful in the company’s history.
Joule said: “Colin has done an outstanding job during his tenure as managing director. Handing the chief executive reins to him allows me time to get closer to the customer, their lifestyle and continue to deliver our distinct brand vision.”
On August 30, Joules reported the strongest revenue growth in its 25-year history, with sales increasing 22% to £117m for the full year to May 31, while EBITDA rose 18% to £10.7m.
Porter said: “Joules continues to develop as a lifestyle brand across categories and distribution channels and we have experienced fantastic momentum in our home market in the UK, as well as international markets [primarily the US and Germany], where we are establishing the brand.
“We remain hugely excited about the growth opportunities for Joules across product categories, territories and distribution channels, and I am thrilled to be taking on this new role to continue to drive the business to new heights.”
