Joy moves back to Brixton

Fashion and lifestyle minichain Joy is to reopen in Brixton, London, at the end of July.

Joy opened its first ever store at 432 Coldharbour Lane 15 years ago, but was forced to move out in January after the landlord decided to redevelop the unit.

It will now occupy the 1,440 sq ft ground floor of 518 Brixton Road, on a “long-term lease”. The store will stock Joy’s full range of womenswear, menswear and gifts.

A spokeswoman for Joy told Drapers: “We never wanted to leave the area; Brixton is where the very first Joy store was born so we have a close connection to the area and are very excited to be returning.”

The move will bring the total number of Joy stores in the UK back up to 28. The chain plans to open a store in Manchester later this year.
