Karen Millen has appointed Nicola Carr Mathews as commercial director.
Carr Mathews has joined the retailer with immediate effect and replaces Steve Price, who stepped down from his role as chief trading officer at the end of last year.
She had most recently been working at kidswear brand I Love Gorgeous as general manager responsible for commercial operations, focusing on buying and merchandising, but prior to this she was merchandising director at Jacques Vert and head of merchandising at Hobbs where she helped launch the NW3 sub-brand.
Carr Mathews was also merchandise manager at premium womenswear retailer LK Bennett for two years and merchandise planner at Gap for three years. Prior to joining the fashion industry she began her career as a financial analyst at Merrill Lynch, and then specialised as an investment analyst monitoring the retail sector.
Chief executive Mike Shearwood said: “I am delighted to welcome Nicola to the business. She has a huge wealth of experience in the retail sector and is a superb addition to the management team.
“Her appointment is particularly timely as we continue our international expansion and the business will undoubtedly benefit from her many years of working across international businesses and global fashion brands.”
