Karl Lagerfeld to debut first UK store

Designer Karl Lagerfeld is to open its first flagship store in the UK.

The store at 145-147 Regent Street is the latest addition to an international roll out of Karl Lagerfeld stores that have already opened in Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich, Antwerp, Shanghai and Beijing. It is scheduled to open in March 2014.

The 2,691 sq ft shop will showcase “the world of Karl Lagerfeld”, housing men’s and women’s ready to wear and accessories collections.

Digital touches will also take centre stage. IPad minis will be integrated into display racks, enabling visitors to look at the whole collection online. Shoppers will also be invited to use a digital guestbook and the fitting rooms will be equipped with photo booths to allow shoppers to photograph their looks, apply “Karl-inspired” filters and then share them online.

Chief executive Pier Paolo Righi said he was “thrilled” to announce the opening. “Opening on Regent Street provides us with an exceptional opportunity to position our brand in this important market,” he said.

“London is one of the world’s leading cities when it comes to retail and this location offers a unique brand mix. Our London presence will be a fantastic representation of our brand’s aesthetic, and it showcases our cool, accessible-luxe collections in a cutting-edge environment.”
