Karstadt chief executive Eva-Lotta Sjøstedt quits after five months

Eva-Lotta Sjøstedt, chief executive of German department chain Karstadt, has left after just five months in the role, it was announced today (July 7).

Sjøstedt took on the role in February, joining from Ikea where she had been deputy global retail manager. She had taken on the reins from Brit Andrew Jennings, who was in the role for three years.

Chief financial officer Miguel Müllenbach and head of human resources Kai-Uwe Weitz will take over Sjøstedt’s position in the interim.

In a joint statement with Karstadt, Sjøstedt said: “After careful consideration, given the experience of recent months and full knowledge of the economic fundamentals, I find the conditions for my desired path no longer exist.”
