Kate Bostock to join Asos

Former Marks & Spencer executive director Kate Bostock is to join Asos as executive director, product and trading.

After over a year of speculation the etailer today announced that Bostock would join the company and board in January next year.

Bostock was previously executive director of general merchandise, at Marks & Spencer but it was announced in July that she would leave both the board and her role from October 1. She has also previously held senior roles at George at Asda and Next.

The etailer also today revealed that product director Robert Bready has resigned from the Asos board after seven years and will be pursuing “fresh challenges” said the etailer.

Asos chief executive Nick Robertson thanked Bready for his “significant contribution” to the company. “He played a major role in the development of the ASOS story and I and the rest of the board are very grateful to him,” said Robertson.

He added: “Our product and trading team now exceeds 350 people. We are fortunate to have Kate bring us her wealth of experience from some of the biggest names in retailing as we strengthen our retail disciplines and put in place the structures needed to manage the next phase of our growth.”

Bostock said: “Asos is a phenomenon and I’m in awe of the story. With its unique mix of own label and fashion forward brands delivered online and increasingly through mobile, the potential for Asos globally is huge. I’m very excited to be joining at such a time of immense opportunity”.

Last week it was announced that former Amazon UK managing director Brian McBride was to become chairman.

Head hunting firm Flint Hyde appointed Kate Bostock at Asos.
