Kinky Knickers sets up transactional website

Manufacturer Headen & Quarmby has launched an ecommerce site for its Mary Portas-backed Kinky Knickers brand.

The www.kinkyknickersuk.com site sells knickers, crop tops, lace vests, thongs and bras. Prices range from £10 for knickers to £20 for a lace vest.

Kinky Knickers will continue to be sold through retailers, particularly independents.

Headen & Quarmby, which is based in Middleton, Manchester and featured in the Channel 4 TV series Mary’s Bottom Line to produce the retail expert’s underwear line, appointed administrators BDO in January after the company suffered the delay of a large order and bad debts.

A month later, Headen & Quarmby’s management team bought the factory out of administration.

Managing director David Moore, whose grandparents set up the factory in 1935, said it had since secured a dozen new customers including men’s boxer shorts brand Henri James.

“Everything is going really well,” he told Drapers. “After the administration a host of brands asked us to make products for them and wanted to support us. We ended up picking up a dozen new customers.”
