La Redoute promotes internally for top job in reshuffle

The UK arm of French mail order company La Redoute has promoted its chief operating officer Richard Burke to the role of chief executive, taking over from Saida Gallouj, who is now head of

Burke, who has been COO since 2012, said he will ensure the French mail order company maintains commercial success while implementing a strategy to sustain long term growth and profitability.

La Redoute, which was founded in 1837, relaunched in the UK for autumn 15 after a management buyout in June last year saw Nathalie Balla and Eric Courteille acquire the company from luxury brand house Kering.

As previously reported, it will redirect some of its traditional direct mail investment to fund extra marketing activity. However, direct mail such as catalogues will remain an important part of the business.
