Late Easter boosts fashion sales at John Lewis

Fashion sales at John Lewis rose 10.3% for the week to 15 April compared to the same period last year, buoyed by the later timing of Easter.

Total sales at the department store were up 11.7% to £84.1m.

Women’s casualwear saw an uplift of 41%, while menswear sales also enjoyed double digit growth, up 14.4%, as shoppers readied their wardrobes for the summer months.

Beauty, wellbeing and leisure sales were up 14.7%.
