Anthropologie to open first Spanish store

US fashion and lifestyle brand Anthropologie will open its first store in Spain on 1 February, at 27 Pasea de Gracia in Barcelona.

The 1,800 sq ft store will span across two floors and offer womenswear, accessories and homeware.

The brand, owned by retail group URBN, currently has 200 stores worldwide. URBN’s other brands include Urban Outfitters and Free People.

Peter Ruis, international executive director of Anthroplogie said: “To come to such an innovative and dynamic city feels very natural to us. We know from our website and stores in London that our style attracts a lot of Spanish consumers, so opening a dedicated store seemed like a logical step.”

Anthropologie contributed $385m (£297m) in sales to the parent company’s £974m (£751m) revenues for the third quarter of 2018 to 31 October.
