Zalando has cancelled consumer-facing fashion event Bread & Butter.
The retailer has confirmed the Berlin-based show will not continue for 2019.
Zalando saved Bread & Butter from insolvency in June 2015, and relaunched the show as a direct-to-consumer event with brands including Adidas, Nike, Reebok and Converse in September the following year.
CEO David Schneider said: “After careful consideration, we decided not to host Bread & Butter next year. At Zalando we test, question and develop ourselves continuously. With Bread & Butter, we have built up fashion expertise and won the trust of the brands. Based on these learnings, we now want to address a broader target group again, with personalised, local campaigns.”
Schneider stressed that in the future it could be possible to organise single-brand events in selected big cities.
Zalando reported an 11.7% revenue growth to €1.2bn (£1bn) for the three months to 30 September, in what it called a “financially challenging” period. It expects its revenue growth for the full year will reach its target growth of 20%-25%.
