Cold weather boosts John Lewis sales

Fashion sales at John Lewis for the week to 19 January jumped 7.2% compared with the same week in 2018, driven by bitter temperatures hitting the UK. 

Total sales at the department store chain for the week were up 0.7% on the same week last year.

Premium women’s accessories had a particularly strong week, as sales almost doubled – up 97% – on last year.

Sales of cold-weather products were up 10% year on year.
