Fashion sales fall at John Lewis

Like-for-like fashion sales at John Lewis fell by 1.8% in the week to 1 December as mild weather hit cold-weather categories.

However, the department store’s own brand womenswear performed well, driven by customers shopping for partywear. Sales of And/Or and Kin were up 144% and 48% year on year, respectively.  

Overall sales for the partnership were down 4% to £297m, compared to the same week last year.
