John Lewis reported flat fashion sales for the week to 11 May, while total sales edged up 0.6% on the same week last year.
Fashion sales were up 0.2% year on year.
Beauty, well-being and leisure recorded a sales rise of 8.4%, while electricals and home technology sales were up 3.4%.
Home was the only category to register a decrease last week, as sales fell 3.3% compared with the same period last year.
Director of shop trade Maggie Porteous said the wet weather at the beginning of the week led to a “strong performance in (its) shops.”
