Fashion sales rise 5% at John Lewis

Fashion sales at John Lewis Partnership increased 5.6% in the week to 27 October as lower temperatures drove cold weather clothing sales up by 12%.

Cashmere and knitwear were among the stand out performers, with sales rising 33% and 42% respectively, according to the department store chain. 

Womenswear also had a strong week, up 13.4%, with the retailer noting that own-brand products had continued to perform well. Beauty, well-being and leisure saw sales rise by 8.6%.

Overall John Lewis saw sales grow marginally by 0.1% to £226.9m compared to the same week in 2017.
