Fashion sales up in half-term week

Total like-for-like fashion sales rose by 3.1% in the week to 28 October 2018 the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker has shown.

The increase compares with a 3.46% decline in the same week last year. In-store like-for-like sales for fashion also rose by 0.58% from a very weak base of 7.11% in 2017.

Total like-for-like sales across retail were up by 2.88%, while total non-store like-for-like sales showed sluggish growth of 8.06% but from a strong base of 26.1%.

The BDO said the weather may still need to get much colder before seasonal lines begin to affect sales positively.
