November high street sales worst since 2015

Total in-store like-for-like sales declined by 2.6% last month, marking the worst November since 2015, the BDO High Street Sales Tracker shows.

Fashion total like-for-likes, including online sales, bucked the decline and were up by 3.3%. In the first and last weeks of November, fashion total like-for-likes posted growth of 8.38% and 11.14% respectively, as a result of colder weather and Black Friday discounts.

In-store-only fashion like-for-like sales, however, declined by 1.7%, compared with a 2.5% decline in November 2017.

Total like-for-like sales, including online, were up by 1.4% for November.
