JD Sports Fashion will wholesale at least 20 of its private-label brands to retailers including Simply Be, Very.com and Zalando for the first time, Drapers can reveal.
The sportswear retailer currently has around 60 own-label brands, including Supply & Demand, Pink Soda and Cecil Gee.
JD Sports will launch its private-label Supply & Demand menswear range on Very.com, Urban Celebrity and Namshi in August, after it launched on German etailer Zalando this month.
Supply & Demand womenswear, kidswear and footwear ranges are in the pipeline, and launch is expected in the first quarter of 2020.
The JD womenswear brand, Pink Soda, will launch with Very.com in autumn. For the first time, the brand has expanded its size range up to a size 22, and plus-size retailer Simply Be will also be launching the brand in August. Size ranges for the brand begin at 4.
Other brands, including the relaunch of Cecil Gee (footwear and formalwear), Sonneti (kidswear) and Status LDN (menswear) are in the development stages.
Jonathon Poll, head of wholesale at JD Sports Fashion, told Drapers: “It has taken 12 months to get this off the ground and we’re pleased the department is getting traction. Our priority for wholesaling is to retain the brands’ performance within JD while gaining external exposure, and we’ve had a fantastic start. JD owns around 60 brands and this is a great opportunity to reintroduce some of them into the wider marketplace.”
