The UK’s first fully-automated online fashion manufacturing marketplace has secured £650,000 investment from a venture capital fund, less than a year after its launch.
Sewport, which launched at the end of 2017, seeks to ‘matchmake’ budding and established fashion designers and brands with worldwide manufacturers. The company currently has over 500 manufactures on board, alongside more than 4,000 brands and will be using the investment from VC fund Fuel Ventures to hire new staff and fund marketing to promote international growth.
Sewport founder, Boris Hodakel, said: “We started this company because there are millions of people constantly searching for products and items of clothing that they need, but just can’t find.”
He added: “We’ve got thousands of designers all around the world using Sewport to find the perfect manufacturers for them, and with this investment, we’re hoping to give even more people a chance to become fashion designers.”
