Marks & Spencer expands distribution centre

Marks & Spencer is expanding its warehouse team at its national distribution centre in Welham Green, Hertfordshire.

The retailer has already hired 150 new staff for full- and part-time roles, Retail Gazette has reported.

Working with logistics company DHL, the warehouse services more than 90 stores in the south-east of England.

DHL started operating the site earlier this month and aims to recruit around 600 permanent staff by the end of 2019.

The announcement comes after Marks & Spencer last month revealed the next 17 shops proposed for closure across the UK as part of plans to reshape its store estate, which will affect more than 1,000 members of staff.
