Menswear boosts John Lewis fashion sales

Fashion sales were up 1.1% year-on-year at John Lewis for the week to 23 February, boosted a rise in menswear sales.

Menswear sales increased by 3.1% for the period ahead of the launch of labels Maison Labiche, Les Basics, Wax London, SKU, Far Afield and Tretorn online and in 10 of its branches on 25 February, as Drapers revealed last week

Warm weather products also saw a boost in sales, up 13% on the same period last year.

John Lewis total sales were down 4.8% compared with 2018.

Total sales for John Lewis Partnership, including Waitrose, dropped 4.5% to £195.14m.
