UK boutique The Place London will open a new store in Paris in January.
The 600 sq ft store at 8 rue de l’Odéon will feature the retailer’s womenswear offer, and introduce new brands such as Saloni and accessories designer Ionna Solea.
The Place London was set up by Simon Burstein [above], former chief executive of designer boutique Browns, at 27 Connaught Street in 2015. It was launched to showcase British womenswear designer Alice Archer. A menswear store opened at 31 Connaught Street in 2016, and a men’s and women’s branch on Broko Street this March.
Burstein told Drapers: “Paris is my second city, so I’m very comfortable there and want to offer exclusive items that are geared a bit more towards the Parisian woman. The store will be the same concept as the stores in London but will curate designers that aren’t necessarily present in Paris.
”We’re doing a lot of collaborations with people that don’t have a lot of exposure there, and it will be great for Alice to get some Parisian recognition. A really exciting designer we’re offering is Laurence Dacade, who continues to design all the shoes for Chanel, but isn’t yet sold in Paris.”
Retail prices at the new store will range from £500 (€561) for Saloni dresses to £2,000 (€2,245) for Alice Archer pieces.
Burstein has plans for a New York opening if the venture is successful.
