Versace is to integrate its diffusion line, Versace Versus, with its contemporary line, Versace Jeans.
This is the first change instituted since the brand was bought by Michael Kors Holdings, now known as Capri Holdings, for $2.1bn (£1.6bn) on 25 September.
Versace CEO Jonathan Akeroyd said: “Over the past few months, we have been looking at ways we can simplify our business model to enable us to give a better focus and energy into our brand portfolio to ensure that we continue to be innovative and relevant in everything that we do.
“This merger will allow us to further develop the Versace Jeans collections and at the same time not lose the DNA and codes that made Versus so iconic.”
Versace Versus was founded in 1989 by founder Giovanni Versace as a gift to his sister, Donatella. After closing in 2005, it was resurrected in 2009 with a capsule accessories collection designed by Christopher Kane.
At the time of the acquisition, Michael Kors pledged to increase the brand’s revenue to $2bn (£1.52bn) and grow its retail footprint by around 100 stores.
Creative director Donatella Versace will take control of both lines.
