Who’s buying what this Black Friday?

Younger customers will favour Black Friday this year, a YouGov survey conducted for KMPG has found.

Data showed that 75% of shoppers aged 18 to 24 will shop during the promotional period, compared with just 36% of 45-to-54-year-olds and 24% of those over the age of 55.

The survey interviewed 2,038 shoppers, and found that more than two-fifths of UK shoppers are planning to make a Black Friday purchase this week, and a quarter intend to continue their spending on Cyber Monday.

A total of 22% of respondents said they were looking specifically to buy Christmas presents during the Sales and 17% said they intended to buy something for themselves.

Nearly one-quarter of participants said they intended to use credit to fund their purchases.

  • I bet KPMG were up all night thinking about that one! Talk about stating the obvious. Next week, KPMG will at great expense state that Y-Fronts are more likely to be bought by people of 65.
