Laurel unveils hi-tech new look for spring

German premium womens-wear brand Laurel unveiled a new contemporary look in London last week.

Senior designer Andreas Angerer, who is in his third season at the brand, has moved the collection away from its wool suit heritage and adopted a modern, feminine feel, using hi-tech fabrics such as nylon and neoprene for spring 08.

"Our most important fabric nowadays is nylon taffeta," said Angerer. The Italian-made fabric has been used on bubble-hemmed evening dresses, sporty skirts and trousers, parkas, and as a trim on day jackets.

As well as neutrals such as navy, grey and stone, key colours for the season include bright yellow, pink, purple and emerald green.

Laurel is the sister brand of Escada and is sold from Escada's central London showroom.
