LFW day two: Ossie Clark relaunch

The Ossie Clark label made its comeback yesterday at London Fashion Week.

The collection, which was designed by Avsh Alom Gur, featured voluminous dresses, python prints, wide-leg trousers and ruffled shirts. The designer held a presentation of around 15 outfits in the Serpentine Gallery in London.

However the designer received some heavy criticism from the press this morning who appeared to be looking for a collection more true to the original 1970s Ossie Clark spirit of lightweight dresses and prints.

  • I sold a collection of Ossie's stuff many yrs back in Sothebys.
    Made 2 grand.
Previously flogged a load of it to an avid collector through the 90's @ £15 per piece (but I did pick it up for £2.50 per kilo back then).

I think that all of the industry should be looking to the past for inspiration (is it the 3rd re-launch of Biba?) as it stops them from looking some of us a bit of breathing space to keep on at creating and selling "The New" more retrospective collections please...especially if they influence The High St........

The lack of emoticons leaves only my poor use of English to convey the message...sorry!!
