Liberty appoints buying director

Liberty has appointed Edwin Burstell as buying director from luxury US department store Bergdorf Goodman.

Edwin Burstell will join department store Liberty in early December from Bergdorf Goodman, where he was senior vice president in charge of buying and merchandising of all non-clothing categories, including accessories, footwear, handbags, jewellery, beauty and home.

Burstell has also previously worked at US department stores Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales and Henri Bendel.

Liberty chief executive Geoffroy de la Bourdonnaye said: "Ed's priceless experience in some of the world's most respected luxury emporia will help us achieve our vision of Liberty as the most loved and avant-garde British luxury brand."
