Liberty launches online competition for print design talent

Liberty London is launching a competition to find new print design talent online from 15 September, to run alongside London Design Festival.

Designers are asked to upload their creation to Instagram using the hashtag #LibertyOpenCall to be in with a chance of having their designs immortalised on Liberty’s iconic Tana Lawn cotton.

The fabric is woven in specially-selected ultra-fine long staple cotton and is used by designers including Loewe, The Vampire’s Wife and Manolo Blahnik. The winning designs will be available to purchase in store and online.

Winners will also spend time alongside the design team and take a trip to Liberty’s fabric mill in Italy.

The department store is encouraging submissions across a wide range of artistic mediums including patchwork, photography, oil paint, needlework and collage.

Liberty London has a heritage of creative print design since it opened its doors in 1875 and has an archive of more than 45,000 original designs.
