Lidl to launch low-cost lingerie

Discount supermarket chain Lidl added low-cost lingerie to its second full women’s fashion collection, which launches later this month.

The line of push-up bras and briefs, priced at £3.99 each, is set go on sale in stores from February 26. Apparel and statement jewellery will also be available in the spring 15 ‘See you in Venice’ collection, which is the first of four collections due to launch this year.

Clothing includes leggings (£2.99), jersey tops (£5.99), jersey dresses (£6.99), ballerina pumps (£5.99) and a trench coat in red, blue or beige (£14.99).

A Lidl spokeswoman said it had been developed in response to an “increased demand for fashion forward clothing at great value”.

The underwear prices will undercut those of sold by rival supermarkets, including Tesco and Marks & Spencer.

Last month Lidl sold kilts for £30 to celebrate the Scottish holiday of Burns Night on January 25.
