Lidl to sell kilts across the UK for Burns Night

Lidl will be selling kilts for under £30 this month to celebrate the Scottish holiday of Burns Night on January 25.

The discount supermarket said it will rollout the range of traditional Highland clothes across all 610 of its UK stores from January 15 after a pilot in Scotland for the Commonwealth Games last summer saw stock sell out in a couple of days.

The range includes a men’s 8 Yard Kilt available in two tartans for £29.99, men’s Ghillie shirts available in black or white for £11.99 and a leather-look sporran for £9.99.

Lidl non-food buying manager Josie Stone said: “This will give everyone the chance to celebrate Burns Night in proper Scottish style, whilst showcasing Scotland’s proud heritage and traditions. Highland Wear can often be unaffordable to many, costing hundreds of pounds, so it’s great to be able to offer an 8 Yard Kilt for under £30.”

Lidl will also promote Scottish food across its UK network from mid-January.
