Lepel is another strong brand for us, especially the classic moulded balcony bra in marine blue with a shell pink lace trim (£20). The Fantasie white underwired and side-support full-cup bra is another bestseller (£32).”

“There have been a lot of exciting changes to The Lingerie Lounge. Our new owner, Chrissy Griffen, who took over on August 22, has given the store a full refurbishment inside and out, so it has a more contemporary feel. We also have a new website, which is set to launch in the next two to three weeks. The Elomi Caitlyn side-support bra in nude (£38) is currently our bestseller, while we’re also seeing demand for the Fantasie Belle underwired balconette bra, also in nude (£38). Freya is another bestselling brand, especially its black Vixen plunge balcony bra (£33).”

“Sales have been good for us as we benefit from being located in a lively tourist town in Cornwall. Our biggest-selling brand at the moment is Lepel, especially its Lyla balconette bra in black (£24), while we’re also seeing demand for the Triumph black lace detail Amourette bra (£34). Maison Lejaby is also popular, especially its classic Nuage bra (£45), which is flying off the shelves.”

“We are selling a lot of Empreinte, in particular its black Thalia balconette bra (£79). Another classic brand is Simone Pérèle; its Delice bra (£69) in shiny purple embellished with Swarovski crystals is definitely the bra of the moment. Our newest brand is Heidi Klum Intimates, which we launched for spring 15. Sales of the brand’s Sofia bra (£38) have been particularly strong, especially in blue.”

“Recently, sales have been unusually buoyant. There seems to be a move towards buying less but seeking higher quality in lingerie, which suits the independents. Our bestselling brand is Marie Jo, with its strongest piece being the newly shaped Avero padded push-up bra (£65.95). Another winning brand is Empriente, especially its Melody bra (from £70.50). A classic brand for us is PrimaDonna and the must-have piece is the Deauville bra, which is a key part of Guilt’s business.”

“We’ve had a steady week with regards to sales and have been preparing for Black Friday in-store, sorting stock out and ordering tickets and posters from the printers. The Sale will include a mixture of new and old stock, as well as all the discontinued lines. PrimaDonna is our top-selling brand at the moment, especially the Deauville  bra (£75.95), which comes in a variety of colours. Fantasie follows closely with its Lois side-support full-cup bra (£29), selling well in a mixture of colours. We are also seeing demand for Chantelle memory foam bras (£40 to £50) in black, nude and white.”

“We celebrated our fifth birthday this August with a party, during which our customers played Odyssey Bingo to win prizes donated by suppliers Simone Pérèle and Mimi Holliday. Currently, our bestselling brand is Simone Pérèle, especially its Amour 3D spacer bra in ink blue (£72). Our customers are also loving the Stella McCartney Isabel Floating long-line lipstick red lace bra (£105). Another brand doing well for us is Fleur of England. The After Dark black silk balcony bra with detailed embroidered straps (£105) is selling extremely well and I think it will be a big hit as a Christmas gift.”

Chantelle is our bestselling brand, especially the Vendome three-part full-cup bra (£58). The Anita Rosa Faia smooth underwired bra (£51) is becoming a must-have daily essential. Meanwhile, the Cosabella Never Say Never sweetie bra (£42) is likely to be a favourite this winter due to its vast colour range. Overall, sales have been good for us. However, competition is ever increasing from the brands themselves, who are investing heavily in their own websites and starting to move away from wholesale. That being said, I have seen a decrease in competition from the high street. In Abingdon, there is no direct competition from department stores and I’ve noticed that some shoppers will go to stores such as Marks & Spencer or Debenhams first. But they can’t find what they’re looking for, so they end up coming to us as we stock the specialist brands they want.”

“Recent sales have been strong, even with the mild weather. We were expecting it to be colder, which would help us to sell more winter accessories. Our leading men’s accessories brand is Vivienne Westwood, with its beanie hat (£55) and scarf (£105) matching set selling incredibly well. The Oliver Sweeney classic reversible leather belt (£99) is also in demand, along with the Versace leather wallet (£99).”

Jack O’Boyle, manager of D Copperfield in St Albans, Hertfordshire

“We’ve had a really strong October and are currently up 30% on the previous year. The weather has helped as it’s been colder and wetter than last year. We also maintained sales throughout August and started to drip-feed in autumn 15 products from the first week of September. This week, we hosted a number of events in-store as part of St Albans Fashion Week, which has helped to drive sales. We teamed up with a local barber called Alternative Barbering Co and offered a grooming service to all who attended. We also teamed up with local restaurants to host a whiskey tasting event. Our most popular men’s accessories brand at the moment is Paul Smith, especially the label’s signature striped socks (£19.99). Sales are also high for Ralph Lauren leather bi-fold wallets (£55). One of the newest brands that we launched for spring 15 is Sandqvist, which has been selling really well for us. Its leather trimmed canvas rucksack (£169) is proving popular.”

Hugo Boss socks (£11) in a variety of styles and colours have been selling really well for us, especially the diamond print. Polo Ralph Lauren winter scarves (£65) and Paul Smith socks (£17) in the brand’s signature striped design are also proving popular. Sales have been really buoyant, which I think is because of our unique location in Yarm. We’re lucky that we have a lot of customers who work off-shore and like to spend with us when they’re on leave. Also, I feel there is a lot more confidence in the economy. We’ve already received our Christmas deliveries of box-set gifts from Hugo Boss, including a three-pack of socks (£25) and a two-pack of boxers (£35).”

“Sales have had a gear change and picked up now the weather is not as mild. The Hugo Boss black nylon backpack with logo detailing (£179) has sold out already. The Ralph Lauren Saddle leather belt (£45) in tan and Armani logo black leather belt (£70) are also performing well. We currently have a selection of Hugo Boss lightweight hat and scarves sets (£105) in-store for our Christmas shoppers, which we’re positive will do really well.”

Scotch & Soda small leather wallets (£39) in black and brown have sold well recently. Gant’s vibrant striped socks (£12) and Paul Smith’s classic striped socks (£17) are consistent favourites with our customers. Our newest accessories brand is Simon Carter, which we introduced for autumn 14. We have added the label’s cufflinks (£49.99) and wallets (£25 to £65).”

“The Armani Jeans black nylon bag with tablet compartment (£90) is selling strongly and the Versace Jeans black pleather bag with the classic Versace icon (£79) is also proving a popular choice. As the weather has got a bit colder, the Stone Island winter beanie hat (£95) is becoming a must-have item. We don’t have any plans for Black Friday but on the day we’ll review sales and, based on circumstances, we may or may not participate.”

“Sales of our winter accessories, such as thick woolly hats and scarves, have risen as it gets colder. Armani thick winter hats (£50 to £100) are selling well in a range of autumnal colours, as are Hugo Boss matching hats and scarves sets (£100 to £150) in black and grey. The Versace black suede belt with gold Medusa head buckle (£150 to £220) has become a must-have piece.”

“To celebrate our fifth birthday in November, we’re hosting a party in-store for customers and have invited everyone on our mailing list who has shopped with us over the past five years. The party will be after store hours and a local restaurant will help with catering. We’re currently up 4% on last year, which has been driven by the Oliver Sweeney collection, which seems to really be attracting our customers. The brand’s leather belts (£99) in both black and brown are proving particularly popular, along with Falke socks (£15) in a selection of colours. We are also seeing demand for Hemley silk ties (£50).”
