Lipsy to branch into menswear

Lipsy is to launch its first menswear range as it becomes the latest retailer to take a slice of the growing menswear market.

The Next-owned fashion brand is launching Man by Lipsy, a 40-piece collection of products such as velvet suits, blazers, prints, roll neck cotton knits, chinos and T-shirts. It will be sold via from Next’s website from 8 October.

Lipsy is the latest womenswear retailer to move into the menswear market, which was worth £15bn in 2017, according to Mintel. In recent years Whistles, Quiz and Missguided have set up their own menswear ranges.

Lipsy reported a 23% rise in turnover and a 15% increase in operating profit for the year ending 27 January, 2018. The same month it stopped selling through its own website, to focus on in-store sales and channels such as the Next website and Asos

Last month Lipsy opened its first central London store. It has 50 locations in the UK and more than 31 franchise stores worldwide.
