Birmingham-based menswear independent Liquor Store will open a womenswear branch in the Great Western Arcade in August.

The 309 sq ft unit is located directly opposite the 418 sq ft menswear store. It will focus on denim, with a broad range of styles on offer, as well as selected womenswear, footwear and accessories. It will stock brands including Levi’s, APC, YMC, Wood Wood, Edwin, Nudie Jeans and Red Wing.

“Womenswear is something that we’ve always wanted to offer – there’s a huge need for mid-range original fashion in the UK marketplace and we’re hoping to fill that void,” said Phil Hazel, owner of Liquor Store, which was established in 2012.

“The success of Liquor Store in the past three and a half years has shown us the desire for our brand partnerships and apparel collections, and we think that it’s time women shared that.

“I want to continue building on the Liquor Store brand and I’m delighted that we’ve committed to a new unit and lease at Great Western Arcade; it really is one of the country’s hidden gems.

“Birmingham has gone through, and is still going through, a renaissance and its fashion offering is stronger than ever so I’m passionate about Liquor Store remaining part of what the city has to offer.”
