Liverpool One has hit one million visitors just two weeks after phase one of the development opened.
Liverpool One has driven up footfall in the city with visitor numbers in Church Street/Whitechapel, near to the centre, up 120% on the previous year.
Neil Barber, head of retail leasing at Liverpool One developers Grosvenor, said: “The footfall figures demonstrate the draw of Liverpool One to customers, many of whom have not shopped in Liverpool city centre for some time. We have agreed deals on over 90% of the retail in phase one and now it is open we continue to secure commitments across the scheme every day as retailers see the scale and impact of Liverpool One on the city.”
Debenhams, which anchors the centre, has beaten targets since the opening. Debenhams chief executive Rob Templeman said: “We are delighted with the performance of Debenhams Liverpool during its first two weeks of trading. The store is trading well above our expectations and some departments are already number one in the company.”
