London Designer Outlet launches retail skills academy

London Designer Outlet is launching the UK’s first retail skills academy for the outlet sector, providing employees with free training to boost their productivity and encourage them to develop a career in retail.

The first students from 20 retailers at the outlet centre based at Wembley Park, including Marks & Spencer, Nike and Adidas, will start on September 29.

LDO secured funding from the UK Commission for Employment and Skills to set up the Skills Academy as part of a competition run by UKCES and the Department for Work and Pensions, encouraging firms to create projects that benefit employees.

Sue Shepherd, centre manager of LDO, said: “Our objective is to ensure that retail assistants working at LDO have access to the best training in sales and service, enabling them to progress in their careers and deliver a great experience for every guest who visits.”
