Longchamp to get a kick out of footwear

Luxury brand Longchamp is focusing on footwear and two of its new bag lines as it looks to deliver double-digit growth in 2013.

For spring 13, Longchamp has introduced its most  extensive range of footwear to date, with a

focus on wedge and flat sandal styles.

Chief executive Jean Cassegrain said the collection would be further extended for autumn 13 to about 100 SKUs, up from 50 to 60 SKUs in the brand’s current collection.

Cassegrain said he was bullish about the year ahead. “The momentum built in recent years, along with concentration on these important areas, will allow us to see double-digit growth in 2013,” he said.

“We will be reorganising our own stores to accommodate the increased footwear offer.”

The brand will also wholesale the footwear collection to Paris department store Galeries Lafayette. The French accessories business this week revealed sales growth of 16% to €454m (£387m)over the year to December 31, on the back of an “invigorated strategy”.

Over the past three years, sales have grown by 75%.
