Louise Goldin wins BFC's Fashion Forward

Designer Louise Goldin was awarded the British Fashion Council’s Fashion Forward funding last night.

Louise Goldin, who specialises in knitwear and shows her eponymous womenswear label at London Fashion Week (LFW), will receive Fashion Forward sponsorship for two seasons to show at LFW in February and September this year. She will also receive business advice from industry experts.

The Fashion Forward scheme was set up by the British Fashion Council (BFC) four years ago to provide funding for talented emerging British designers to enable them to show and develop their businesses in London. It was sponsored this year by Coutts & Co bank and supported by the London Development Agency.

Goldin said: “I am so proud to be a winner of this prestigious award – Fashion Forward. Receiving the financial sponsorship enables me to create pieces which are commercially viable yet maintain creative integrity.”

BFC chairman Harold Tillman, who also owns Jaeger and Aquascutum, said: “London’s reputation for creativity is largely fuelled by its innovative fashion designers of which Louise is a great example. We are incredibly proud of the talent and potential here in London which is being watched closely by the world’s media and buyers.”

The other shortlisted designers for Fashion Forward were Basso & Brooke, Emilio de la Morena, Jean-Pierre Braganza, Osman and Todd Lynn.

Previous Fashion Forward recipients include Christopher Kane, Erdem and Jonathan Saunders.
