Luxury handbag label Tissa Fontaneda launches in the UK

Spanish accessories label Tissa Fontaneda has launched its autumn 13 collection in Mayfair concept store Wolf & Badger, and on

The 12-piece line, featuring a range of clutch bags and handbags, are characterised by a distinctive ‘bubble’ effect, created using an exclusive steaming process on soft lambskin. Due to the lengthy artisan production process, only 5,000 bags can be made each year.

Wholesale prices range from £89 to £293, with a mark up between 2.6 and 2.8.

Designer Tissa Fontaneda said the move was prompted by luxury customers in the UK who “appreciate exceptional quality, leather and attention to detail”.

The brand plans to expand its wholesale clients in the UK this year, and a standalone store is being planned for London, with Mayfair and Belgravia being earmarked as prime locations.

Tissa Fontaneda is also extending into the US and Canadian markets, as well as Russia and parts of Asia.

Currently it is stocked in several multi-brand boutiques throughout Europe including Clementine in Geneva, Delage in Paris, Marisa in Milan and Marsteller in Munich.

Before establishing the label in 2005, Fontaneda was head of product at Loewe. She also worked with other brands including Cartier, Dunhill and Louis Vuitton.
