LVMH records double-digit growth

LVMH’s sales totaled €4 billion (£3.2bn) in the first quarter of 2008, with like-for-like sales up 12% compared to last year.

Fashion sales at LVMH, whose brands include Louis Vuitton, rose 14% during the first quarter, with Louis Vuitton performing “exceptionally well”. The brand performed particularly well in the US, Europe and Asia, while the reopening of the Maison Louis Vuitton in Hong Kong was of the first quarter’s highlights.

LVMH said its other fashion brands, which include Celine, Marc Jacobs and Fendi, recorded an “excellent first quarter”.

LVMH expects to continue its growth in 2008 despite the “challenging” economic climate.
