Lyle & Scott appoints new head of design

Young fashion menswear brand Lyle & Scott has appointed British menswear designer Carolyn Massey as head of design.

She will take on her new role at the beginning of April and her first collection for the brand will be autumn 13. She will oversee the design for both the Lyle & Scott Vintage and Heritage collections. Massey will be based at the brand’s London head office and will head up a team of eight.

Massey launched her eponymous label in June 2006 and has been a recipient of the Topshop NEWGEN award three times.

Massey said: “Lyle and Scott has a fantastic story and heritage and this, combined with their vision to push the brand forward, is something that really drew me to it. The brand comes from a place of craftsmanship and innovation within their own factories in Scotland, and this is something I really want to put renewed focus on.”

Derrick Campbell, Lyle & Scott’s managing director, said he felt her “quintessentially British style” would fit perfectly with the Lyle & Scott aesthetic as it looks to evolve the brand.
