British heritage-inspired young fashion brand Lyle & Scott is growing its sportswear division for spring 16, expanding outside of golf clothing for the first time.
It will launch a collection of sportswear into 60 stockists across the UK, France, Germany and Holland in January.
Tom Duncan, director of sportswear at Lyle & Scott, said the collection will add incremental value as it is being picked up by sportswear chains new to the brand. He would not give any names.
“It’s a broadening of our offer,” he explained. “We have experience in the golf market since the 1960s, so we are using our experience in that performance market to do something new.
“A lot of businesses are jumping on that sportswear trend, but credibility is important to us; we’re creating credible British sportswear, not replicating what others are doing.”
The 60-piece range features outerwear, tracksuits, jersey and woven separates, with wholesale prices ranging from £12 for T-shirts up to £60 for jackets.
In May 2014, Lyle & Scott restructured its business into separate divisions for vintage, footwear and accessories and sportswear to support its plans for UK and international expansion.
Lyle & Scott currently has 190 stockists in the UK.
