Lyle & Scott to close Carnaby Street store

Menswear brand Lyle & Scott is closing its flagship store on London’s Carnaby Street and plans to reopen it at another site.

The location of the new location has yet to be confirmed. The company said it will continue to serve customers from the store, its only full-price standalone shop in the UK, until further notice.

It opened at 1 Carnaby Street in October 2014, having upsized from its previous store in Covent Garden, which it occupied for six years.

“The relocation of our flagship store is part of our ongoing strategy to remain innovative, interesting and individual in an increasingly competitive high street”, said omnichannel director Ben Gunn. “We are continuing to learn how best to translate our ethos to our customer and are confident this move will accelerate such a task.”

Lyle & Scott has one flagship store and two outlet stores in the UK, as well as trading online. It was founded in 1874 in the Scottish Borders and has a market presence in 28 countries around the world.

  • No surprise here. I went in this store a couple of months ago and it looked like everyone had given up.
