M and M Direct, the discount branded fashion home shopping firm, saw sales soar 31% for the 10 weeks to January 4.
M and M Direct’s internet orders rocketed 57% over the period.
The site www.mandmdirect.com was the sixth most visited clothing website in the UK in December. The mail order firm also recorded its first ever £1 million sales day on Monday December 8, as shoppers sought out discounted merchandise.
M and M Direct chief executive Steve Robinson said: “The business did extremely well over the Christmas period against a strong comparative. Customers in these difficult times are embracing the internet and wanting great value products.”
Robinson added: “Looking forward to 2009 we believe we are well positioned in a challenging market to offer our customers a continuing great range of products at great prices and it will be those retailers that manage to deliver value for money that will continue to grow.”
