Mackintosh opens first store

Luxury and heritage brand Mackintosh has opened its first standalone store in Mayfair in London.

The 970 sq ft store, located on Mount Street, will sit alongside premium stores such as Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga and Carolina Herrera. The store houses its autumn 10 and spring 11 collections, which include its range of men’s and women’s raincoats.

The two floor store also features a limited edition range by French label Kitsuné and displays Mackintosh coats from its archive.

Founder Charles Macintosh set up the label in 1823. It was acquired by Japanese distributor Tokyo-based Yagi Tsusho in 2007.
