Majority of BHS shops still empty

Two thirds of BHS shops have yet to be filled on the high street, almost a year after the retailer collapsed.

Only 52 of the 164 shops in the UK have been taken on by new tenants since the chain went into administration on 25 April last year, according to The Guardian.

The large size of the stores has been blamed for the lack of interest, as shoppers continue to migrate online.

Stores in London and cities like Leeds and Birmingham have been snapped up by Primark, H&M and Next, but many stores in smaller towns and cities, particularly in the north of England, remain vacant.
