Marc Cain creative director to depart after 43 years

Marc Cain managing director and creative director Karin Veit is to leave the business at the end of this month, after 43 years.

Veit joined the business just two years after its owner and founder Helmut Schlotterer formed the company in 1973.

She is credited with shaping the DNA of the brand with particular expertise in co-ordinates, knitwear and prints.

“I would like to sincerely thank Karin Veit for her exceptional commitment, her great lifetime achievement and the 43 years of collaboration and friendship,” said Schlotterer. “Alongside her excellent professional competence, I have always valued the personal exchange with her.”

Veit added: “At Marc Cain I was able to work with joy and a highly-motivated. I always found the mutual inspiration and realisation of new ideas very fulfilling.”

The company has not yet announced her replacement but said a new board member will join in October with extended areas of responsibility, beyond the area of design.
