Marc Jacobs bucks the trend in New York

Marc Jacobs' show in New York this week bucked the trend for volume and shorter hems seen at Luella and Diane von Furstenberg, as he ushered in a grown-up and womanly look. His slim 1920s-inspired silhouettes prompted talk of a move away from the youth-driven smock shapes that have driven mainstream womenswear since spring 06.
