Marks & Spener expected to report worst Christmas in a decade

Marks & Spencer is expected to report its worst Christmas trading in a decade and one of its worst performances in 80 years on Wednesday, according to reports.

General merchandise sales at the high street giant are expected to be down by between 8.5% for the third quarter to December 27, according to The Times.

Marks & Spencer could be forced to cut its dividend next year because of difficult trading, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The retailer was among a host of stores to offer discounts and Sales spectaculars in the run up to Christmas

M&S, Debenhams and Next will update on Christmas trading this week.
