Mary Katrantzou wins British Fashion Council fund

Designer Mary Katrantzou is the winner of this year’s British Fashion Council/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund.

The annual fund, established in 2008, provides the winning designer with a year-long mentoring support programme and a £200,000 grant to provide the necessary infrastructure to take them to the next stage in their business.

Emilia Wickstead, Holly Fulton, Mary Katrantzou, Michael van der Ham, Mother of Pearl, Osman, and Sophia Webster were shortlisted for the 2015 prize and presented their collections and five-year business plans to the judging committee, made up of the fund’s supporters and other industry experts.

Caroline Rush, chief executive of the British Fashion Council, said: “As anyone who has met Mary knows, she is a tireless worker, has an abundance of creativity and has grown from being one of London Fashion Week’s must-see emerging talents to one of the world’s most talked about designers.”

Previous winners include Peter Pilotto, Nicholas Kirwood, Jonathan Saunders and Christopher Kane.
