Matalan has appointed Simon Lee, executive creative director and head of marketing at Anthropologie in New York, as its marketing director, Drapers can reveal.
Lee replaces Lee Pinnington at Matalan, who has left the business after eight years to pursue other opportunities.
Lee had been in his role at Anthropologie since May 2015 and was previously executive creative director at US-based creative agency Wednesday from January 2014 to May 2015. He was previously vice-president and creative director at Shopbob for more than two years, and held other senior roles at advertising agency Schawk and the TJX Group.
It comes as Matalan launched its first Homestore in its Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, last week, offering furniture collections and other homeware items in its bricks-and-mortar store.
The retailer previously offered its homeware online through its Matalan Direct online site, which launched in July 2015.
Matalan appointed Shane Quigley as its first chief customer officer in May this year. He previously led Matalan Direct.
